About

Kate joined Acuity Law as a Trainee Solicitor in 2018 having completed her LPC and Masters in Law at Swansea University with Merit. Prior to this, Kate completed her undergraduate law degree at the University of Exeter’s prestigious Law School in 2017. Whilst at Exeter, Kate was the social secretary of the law society and took part in a wide range of activities, from mooting competitions to netball. Kate’s proactive approach and enthusiasm sees her well placed as a member of Acuity’s social committee and wellbeing initiative.

Outside of work, Kate is a keen amateur chef, having recently completed a course with a Michelin Star chef in France.

Work

  • Assisted in advising a university on the state aid issues arising from a £300million major development project which included an application on the market economy investment principle
  • Advised a local authority in respect of its multimillion-pound 25-year PPP contract for waste treatment and disposal services, including energy from waste
  • Assisted in drafting contractual documentation for a complex syndicated loan facility
  • Drafted and negotiated confidentiality agreements for a global investment company which specialises in investment in infrastructure and renewables
  • Provided transactional corporate support on a multimillion-pound refinance of a national real estate developer
  • Assisted a Partner who was acting on behalf of West Sussex County Council in a £28million procurement challenge
  • Provided support on complex and high-value director/shareholder disputes often including s.994 petitions
  • Involved in defending a multi-million-pound claim which looked at the issue of whether a particular provision amounted to an unreasonable restraint on trade
